Bloomberg: China's trade surplus in advanced technology with the U.S. for the first time is another signal that China is crossing the middle-income trap.

Recent trade data suggests that China may be able to cross the middle-income trap. In June of this year, China's exports of advanced technology products to the United States for the first time exceeded imports of similar products from the United States, achieving a trade surplus of 1.3 billion dollars.
The U.S. Census Bureau categorizes products from ten industries as advanced technologies, including biotechnology, life sciences, optoelectronics, information and communications, electronics, flexible manufacturing, advanced materials, aerospace, weapons, and nuclear technology. This marks the first occurrence of a trade deficit in advanced technology products with China. This is mainly due to an expanding trade deficit in information and communication products (, which are primarily used for the rapid processing of large amounts of information ). The U.S. still maintains a surplus in nearly all other advanced technology sectors, with the largest surplus in the aerospace product category.
